Hello friends! I'm sure many visitors to my Etsy shop wonder "Why Cat Hats?", and I have to tell ya - it's not exactly what I envisioned as my specialty 7 years ago when I was in design school. You've just gotta go where the creative muses take you!

I started handcrafted tiny, knitted hats for my cat (Dorothy) when she was a kitten in the fall of 2009. I'd been dreaming of starting my own Etsy shop but it was imperative to me that I wait until I felt I had something truly unique to share. On a lark, and with the encouragement of a few friends, I started listing cat hats on Etsy in the fall of that year. I've been so wonderfully lucky to meet cat and animal lovers the world over, both in person and online, which is by far my favorite part about being the "crazy cat hat lady".

In March of 2015, my first book CATS IN HATS was published stateside, and it features 30 knitting and crochet patterns for many of the hats you've seen in my Etsy shop over the years. However, this little shop is still home to many unique designs and whims of ScooterKnits!
